Where will the sitting take place?

Your sitting can take place in our spacious studio where we can use creative lighting techniques or various coloured backgrounds, or simply use the modern high key white background, this all depends on your preference. ilife photography is not simply a studio that sticks to one method or style of photography, having the professional experience in creative lighting enables us to create an image around you and your requirements as these are different for each individual and age group.

Lifestyle / enviromental portraits

ilifephotography can also offer a bespoke portrait service this can either be at your home / garden or at a favourite location that depicts your lifestyle or hobbys i.e a woodland setting, a beach location, a stately home or a city centre, the choice is yours.

How long will the sitting take?

The sitting happens in a relaxed atmosphere which results in natural photographs. The sitting usually takes between 1-2 hours but can be longer depending on the number of family members to be photographed. It is important that it is not rushed as relaxation is the key to super images. With children, the sitting has to be timed to suit their best time of day and we will discuss this with you beforehand.

What type of clothing is best?

The best type of clothing is plain and casual. Materials such as denim, cotton and linen are ideal and the best colour tones are light to mid-range. Bare skin looks so much better in photographs hence women with bare shoulders and arms and men without shirts to hold small children is ideal. As Karl will be capturing the natural essence of you and your children, any form of jewellery is encouraged to be kept to a minimum

For babies, nothing but a terry nappy is ideal as this accentuates those beautiful little chubby limbs. Children look great in denim; either jeans or dungarees. Needless to say, barefooted is best.

It is generally a good idea to bring a selection of light clothing to choose from during the sitting.

What happens after the sitting?

One to two weeks after the sitting, Karl will contact you and arrange for you to come into the studio to select your photos. You can relax in our comfortable studio and take your time selecting the photos from a digital slide show. Karl or Julie will be on hand to help you select images and frames. The finished product/s will then be ready for collection 2-3 weeks after the viewing.
